You will be dealing with Dean
ELB Plastering is Dean. He prices the job, he turns up, and he does the work, so there is nobody in between you and whoever is holding the trowel. On bigger jobs he works alongside people he has worked with before.
How he works
Three things, said by customers rather than by us
Every trade website claims to be reliable and tidy. These are the same three points coming back unprompted across 11 Google reviews, which is a different thing.
-
He turns up when he says he will
“Came on time each day, did all the prep work and cleaned up afterwards too.”
Cameron Dearden
-
He leaves it clean
“He also left the hall cleaner than he found it.”
Scott Taylor
-
The price he quotes is the price you pay
“Provided a competitive fixed price and completed the job on time at the agreed price.”
Una Pickles
Straight answers
Including the ones that cost us the job
Anyone can say they are honest. It is only worth anything when it points the other way, so here are three times you will be told something that loses us work or money.
If the damp is not fixed, we will not plaster it
New plaster over an active leak or rising damp blows again, usually within months, and the second repair costs exactly what the first one did. If that is what we are looking at you will be told, even though it means the job waits and might go elsewhere.
We do not do asbestos, and we will say so
We cover artex, we do not remove it, and we do not deal with asbestos. If removal is genuinely what you need, that is specialist work and you will be pointed toward it. If you are unsure whether your artex contains any, we can take a sample and confirm inside one to two days.
The bigger job is not automatically the answer
Sometimes a patch is the right repair and skimming the whole wall is money you do not need to spend. Sometimes it is the reverse, and a perfect patch would still read as a patch. You get told which one your wall actually needs, not whichever one is worth more.
None of that is a sales position, it is just cheaper than doing a job twice. If you want to see how the work is priced and run from first contact to clean-up, the services pages set out what each job involves, or you can send over what needs doing and get a price back.
Our process
How the job actually runs
Most people have never hired a plasterer and do not know what they are agreeing to. Here is the whole thing, start to finish.
No competitor publishes this, which tells you how often people are left guessing.
-
Survey
We come out and look at the job properly. Measuring up, checking what is behind the existing surface, and asking what you want the finished room to do.
-
Written quote
You get the price in writing with the work set out line by line. If anything could change it once we open the surface up, you hear about it before we start rather than after.
-
Prep and protection
Floors covered, furniture sheeted or moved out, doorways sealed. Plastering makes dust, and the difference between a tidy job and a mess is decided before any material is mixed.
-
The work
Boarding, bonding and finish coats worked in order, each one given the time it needs. You will know which rooms are in use and which are not on any given day.
-
Drying time
Fresh plaster has to dry before it can be painted. We tell you roughly how long to leave it, what it should look like as it goes off, and what to do if it dries patchy.
-
Clean up
Waste taken away, floors vacuumed, everything put back. The job is not finished when the plastering stops, it is finished when you have got your room back.
